The Daily Drum Practice Routine that helps you get better

We’ve all heard the saying “practice makes perfect”. This guide gives you the exact daily practice you should be doing to get to perfect.

The best part? You don’t need to dedicate hours to the drum kit everyday, 30 minutes is good enough to get you started!

The following is a routine that is flexible, allowing you to customize it to your goals:

30 minutes daily drum practice routine

Warm Up (5 mins)

Depending on your main focus, you should be warming up. Setting aside time to warm up before your drum practice will help reduce injuries and also help you get into the groove.

If you’re working on your hands, consider these hand exercises before your drum practice.

Wrist injuries are common among drummers, don’t skip out on the warm up!

Main focus (20 mins)

Pick one single focus for every drum practice session. It could be any of the following:

Play to music (5 mins)

After 20 minutes of intense focus and practice, its time to wind down and have fun.

Pick a song or a backing track and just drum to it.

Freestyle and let yourself go here.

If you’re learning a riff, you could use this 5 minutes to practice that as well.

I’ve shared a Drum Practice Routine guide previously. You can use the framework in that guide to customize a drum practice routine that suits your goals and drum skill levels.

All the best!
